Chapter 48: Healing Words

Leon’s marines arrived and the duke set about restoring order. Lynn and Great Aunt Cecile stood with the duke. The rest of us stayed out of the way. I took a little while to gather myself.

“That was brilliant Fiona,” I said.

“That is what I do. I am a monster hunter.”

“And how you do it is brilliant. I am incredibly turned on right now.”

“Well, then I am doing something correct.” Fiona said. And she smiled.

Amy grinned, “I’m terrified and elated. I’m going to scream at some point either way.”

Vincent grinned, “You didn’t leave anything for me. If Baroness Wander hadn’t told me to aim for the legs, I wouldn’t have done anything at all.”

“Well,” I said with a grin, and flexed my bicep. “When you’re monster hunters like us, it’s hard to stop when you get started.”

“Indeed,” Fiona snorted, “You are so very dangerous.”

“You talked to Baroness Wander as well?” Leon asked.

Vincent nodded, “Then I assume she spoke to you also. May we ask what she said?”

“She said: listen to Ren if you want to marry that girl you love. You’ll know when I mean. And I did.”

“I am so glad that worked,” I said. Then I turned to Fiona and Amy. “But I need to say something to you two. Something serious.”

“What is that?” Fiona asked.

“Should we worry?” Amy asked.

“First, I want to promise you that I will screw this up,” I said.

Amy giggled, “Ren, what are you saying?”

“I will make so many mistakes,” I continued, “But I will do my best. I will work to fix what I screw up. And I will always love you both.

Amy clasped her hands together beneath her chin and made a happy squeaking noise, “Oh dearest!”

Fiona nodded, “We must all admit to these things. Too much of this is new to me, and to the both of you I suspect. We will all make mistakes. We must promise each other not to let a single mistake doom our relationship.”

Amy looked at Fiona, “Our relationship? What do you mean?”

Fiona returned Amy’s gaze. “I love Ren. But I do not only love Ren. I have grown to love you both together. I am hopeful that you both feel the same way.”

I nodded, “Obviously I do. What do you say Amy?”

Amy blushed and looked at the ground, “I do. I feel the same.”

“Then whatever happens, we will face it.” I said. “Whatever we face, we will face it together.”

“You three are going to make me cry,” Vincent said.

“If you behave yourself,” Fiona said, “I’ll try to talk them into letting you play with us.”

Amy blushed.

“Something to look forward to then,” He said, and patted Amy’s shoulder.
