Chapter 51: A New Home
As we rode the carriage back with the last load of belongings, we turned to a necessary conversation.
“So, how do we go about getting the three of us married?” I asked, “Are there official rules? It isn’t illegal, so there must be some precedent for how to do this. Do we do separate marriages? Or do we have one ceremony with all of us?”
“Hang precedent,” Fiona said, “I will marry both of you together. We will marry as a unit unless either of you object.”
“I like that.” Amy said.
“I agree,” I said, “Otherwise we would need three ceremonies. So that leads us to the second question. Who wants to wear what? I want a wedding gown. I assume Amy does as well.”
“I will wear a tailcoat.” Fiona said.
“I suspected that,” I said.
As I spoke, the carriage rolled into the grounds of Myrddhin House.
“Beloved, about the seer you rescued. I have news. She declined an offer to return home. In her words: she hasn’t had a home in decades. She said she owed you a favor. And so, I have contracted her to work as your instructor in the ways of the precognitive arts.”
“I have a teacher?” I said.
“You do.” Amy said.
We exited the carriage. And Fiona looked at Myrddhin House. She pursed her lips and hummed a quiet tune, “Amy, I wish to make you a suggestion.”
Amy looked at Fiona, “What is that, Lady Fiona? Um, that is, what is that, Fiona?”
“Would your parents like to move into Myrddhin House? They could keep the bakery. There is no reason for them to stop that, unless they want to stop.”
“Fiona? That would be okay?”
“It would be wonderful. I have not spent much time with them. But your parents seem good and decent people. I would be delighted to have them in Myrddhin House.”
“I’ll ask them. I think they’ll say yes.” Amy said.
“Perfect.”
I smiled, “This is good. Finally, life is good.”
